THE UNFORTUNATE REALITY OF MY COUNTRY - NIGERIA

I actually wrote this a while ago, but sadly it still applies even now. Watching the operation of this country is so upsetting and that's why this is probably one of the most abrasive pieces I've ever written, but whatever...

How can the Naira be as useless as it is now with all the resources God has blessed us with? This is just unfathomable. A country like Nigeria should have been developed by now. I thought we had reached rock-bottom, but we've just realized there's a whole new level lower than lowest. Wait! Or is this a compulsary national mining expedition? So why else do we keep going down? Only God knows how many new low levels we'll get to discover before we start going upwards - if that'll ever happen.

Corruption, mismanagement, greed, impunity, wickedness, by just a few, and we the masses have to pay? What nonsense! The gap between the rich (politicians) and the poor is so wide that these two classes are living different realities in the same country: the poor man is going through hell, while the rich man is completely oblivious to the realities, ordeals, and predicaments of the pauperized. All the things the impoverished cry about are strange to the opulent, because the latter are living a fairy tale in the same society where most are next-door neighbours with the devil. And what's exasperating is that all the luxury these politicians enjoy are amassed by exploiting the helpless - God will judge.

Today we suffer because of the vices of our leaders, but they're still chilling. Well, let me not be too harsh on them. To be fair, most of them are clueless, brainless, classless, heartless illiterate touts who wear suits and agbada to go fight Naija Kung Fu with their colleagues, and jump fences like lizards. They haven't the slightest idea how to give (except bribe) or build. Their forte is to kill, steal, and destroy like their daddy - yes, the red guy with the two horns and a long tail. Therefore, how can we actually expect anything good from these lot? In fact, they're doing the only thing they know how to do best, so I guess we can say they're doing an exceptional job. Thus, we can't expect any different because anything other than this would really be a surprise.

Okay, okay I know I sound pissed, so I'll just shut up and leave now. But first, if you didn't notice the adjectives I used above to describe the average Nigerian politician, then check out this small but genius observation I made: Add "less" at the end of any good word, and that'll describe the average Nigerian politician. For example: fruit-less, sense-less, soul-less, etcetera - genius huh? O well, and since an apple cannot produce a mango, they leave us job-less and help-less. They cause our economy to be power-less, growth-less, and our currency, value-less. Consequently and more sadly, they leave the poor man, life-less. Gosh! If only I had Amadioha's number, so we can have a discourse on how to assign a muscular lightening to each wicked politician in this country, or bountifully gift them with their fair share of swollen stomach, swollen leg, or painful heart attack. But I'll leave them to God. Let Him handle them accordingly.

"Nigeria will know no peace until the son of a nobody, can become somebody, without knowing anybody." - Aminu Kano.

May God save us.
