FOCUS

I observed that so many of us young people want to be this and that, we want to be like this person or that person. But our ambition overwhelms our minds so much so we barely figure out and stick to the right way in getting where we're headed. In other words, we lose FOCUS of the right path to follow... Well, what are you waiting for? Dive into my thoughts, will you?

I've realized to achieve certain goals in life, your focus will have to be set on the right things; on key things that will unlock your volt of success. The mistake we often make is placing all our focus on our goals, and not on the tools that will help us actualize set goals - that's just basking in a fantasy. If you want to have a lot of money and yet focus on money, you may never see a dime, and even if you make the money, you may never be satisfied. But if you focus on hard work, diligence, passion, being the best, and finding fulfillment in your work, you won't even notice when the money will start gushing and overflowing.

I doubt Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook to make money. And even if he thought of the financial aspect, I doubt he ever imagined this simple platform would literally fetch him billions of dollars. He probably had a passion and the brilliance, then applied them in the right place. Now, he is among the pioneers, he is a leader, and of course, a billionaire. Today he must be overwhelmed when he thinks about how it all started like a joke in that dorm room. He achieved these because of where his focus was - passion, finding fulfillment in endeavor.

King Solomon had a blank check from God. He had the opportunity to ask for anything he wanted. But his request amazed God - he asked for wisdom and knowledge to lead and govern God's people. How many of us youths today can genuinely ask for wisdom and knowledge when we can ask for money, more money, and even more money? God was so pleased, He granted his request by giving him wisdom and knowledge. Additionally, King Solomon was blessed with more riches than he could have ever dreamed; more riches than kings before him, and more than any after him will ever have. All these other things were added to him by God because of his focus - wisdom and knowledge, not wealth.

Now most importantly, the Bible says when we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all other things will be added onto us: when you focus on God, and the things of God, He will surely bless you; all other things will naturally fall in place. And when His blessings begin to flow, you will be overwhelmed. Why? Well, because of your focus on the Kingdom, and not on mundane things that have no true substance. Like they say, the material things will be 'jara' (additional).

In a nutshell, focus on the right things, on things that really matter, and you may achieve even more than you bargained for. So, in Falz' voice, "brethren, cleanze yuh vocus."

...Pursue excellence and success will chase you.
